Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 August 2026
3dprint.name is a local-first design tool. You can design and export a sign entirely in your browser without an account. Optional account, cloud-saving, Pro billing and analytics features do involve personal data. This policy explains what is handled, when, and your choices.
Who we are
3dprint.name is a browser-based tool provided by 3D Print Land Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14790132). For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, email contact@3dprint.land. 3D Print Land Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here.
Public gallery submissions
If you choose to submit a printed result, we process the title and description you provide, a copy of the design, your account username and a photo which you confirm shows the real physical print. The original submission is private to you and authorised administrators while it is reviewed. Rejected submissions remain private, and you can remove your own submission from the editor.
If an administrator approves the submission, its title, description, print photo, design and your username become public in the gallery. Other visitors can open an editable copy of the design. If their published design is based on yours, the gallery links back to your approved submission. Do not upload a photo containing people, private details, third-party artwork or anything you do not have the right to publish. Gallery photos and submission records are stored by Supabase. The lawful basis is your consent to publication and our legitimate interest in reviewing submissions and keeping the public gallery suitable for the service.
What stays on your device (local-first)
By default, your design work never leaves your browser:
- Your projects and the text you type: names, words, fonts, colours and settings are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. We do not receive them.
- Uploaded fonts and image shapes: font files are embedded inside your project so the design stays portable. An image used for a custom shape is processed in your browser and only its derived vector silhouette is stored in the project; the original image file is not kept. Project assets are only sent to us if you choose to save that project to the cloud (see below).
- Preferences: such as your light/dark theme and a few editor settings.
- Exports and JSON import/export: STL, 3MF and project-JSON files are generated in your browser and downloaded directly to you.
Clearing your browser data, or using private/incognito mode, removes this local data. When you use “Share a design”, the whole design is encoded into the link itself. It is not stored by us, and anyone with the link can open it, so only share it with people you trust.
Optional accounts & cloud saving
You can create an account (email and password, or a supported sign-in provider) to save projects to the cloud and use Pro features. If you do, we process, via our authentication and database provider Supabase:
- Account data: your email address, an encrypted password (managed by Supabase, never visible to us), and any optional profile details you add (display name, username, avatar).
- Cloud projects: if you save a project to the cloud, its contents (including any embedded uploaded font, custom shape silhouette and the text in the design) are stored in your account.
The lawful basis is performance of a contract (providing the account and cloud features you asked for). If you do not create an account, none of this applies.
Pro subscriptions & billing
Pro is an optional paid subscription handled by our payment processor, Stripe. If you subscribe:
- Stripe collects and processes your payment details to take payment. Your card and payment-method details go directly to Stripe; they are never sent to or stored on our servers.
- We store a subscription record linking your account to Stripe: a Stripe customer ID and subscription ID, the plan, status and current period end. We use this to unlock Pro and manage your subscription.
- Aggregate sales reporting uses successful checkout times, amounts and billing countries supplied by Stripe. Our administrator dashboard shows country totals only; it does not store or display your billing address.
- Checkout attribution records an allow-listed page location and Pro feature category in Stripe checkout and subscription metadata. This tells us which in-product route led to a completed subscription. It never includes your design text or files.
The lawful basis for payment processing is performance of a contract. We rely on our legitimate interest in improving the service for checkout attribution. Stripe acts as an independent controller for payment data.
Patreon membership (optional)
As an alternative to Stripe, you can optionally connect Patreon from your account so that an active membership of our Patreon campaign unlocks Pro. Connecting Patreon is entirely optional. If you connect it, we process, via Patreon:
- Your Patreon user ID and membership status for our campaign (for example whether you are an active patron), plus campaign and tier information, including whether you are on the tier that unlocks Pro (our “Commercial” tier).
- A last-verified timestamp and a verification expiry, used to keep Pro in step with your membership and to re-check it periodically.
The check runs on our server. We do not store your Patreon access or refresh tokens. The access token is used once to read your membership and then discarded. Patreon is a third-party service that acts as an independent controller for your Patreon account data; its own privacy policy governs that. One Patreon account can be linked to a single 3dprint.name account. The lawful basis is performance of a contract (providing the Pro access you asked for).
Analytics & product events
We use analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages and features are useful. We never sell your data.
- Vercel Web Analytics: privacy-friendly, aggregated page-view counts. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not track you across other websites, so it runs without a consent prompt.
- First-party product events: we record aggregate events (such as “editor opened”, “template opened” or “upgrade prompt opened”) via our own
/api/eventsendpoint. These carry only an event name, the page path, limited categories such as template, mode, export format, upgrade location or Pro feature, and a random anonymous id kept in your browser to de-duplicate counts. They never include the text you type, your designs, your files or your email. This is off until you consent. - Google Analytics (GA4): if enabled, gives aggregated usage statistics and sets a few first-party cookies (
_ga/_ga_<id>, up to two years). It is not loaded until you consent, and is never used for advertising.
The lawful basis for cookie-based and product analytics is your consent, which you can give or withdraw at any time on our Cookie Notice. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics; it does not affect anything essential.
Contacting us
If you send us a message through the contact form, we process the name, email and message you provide so we can reply and keep a record of the enquiry. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to you.
Administrative access & logging
Our operators can view account, subscription and project metadata (for example email, plan status and project counts) to run and support the service, and we keep an internal audit log of significant administrative actions. Access is restricted to authorised administrators. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating, securing and supporting the service.
Service notification emails
So we know the service is being used and can operate and support it, our systems send us (the site operator) a short notification email when someone finishes account setup and when someone successfully starts a Pro subscription. These are delivered by our email provider, Resend. An account notification contains the saved username, optional display name, email address, user id, sign-in method and relevant times; a Pro notification contains the saved username, optional display name, account email or id, Stripe customer, subscription and price identifiers, the amount and the time. They never contain card or payment-method details, the text you type or your designs. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating, monitoring and supporting the service.
Optional product news and offers
If you actively switch on product news and offers in your account, we may email you occasional feature tips, reminders and Pro offers. To decide which message is relevant, we process your account id, email address, username, recent editor activity, current or former Pro status and whether a lifecycle email was sent, clicked or followed by a Pro checkout. We do not put your design text or project files into these emails or records. The lawful basis is your consent.
Marketing email is off by default. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe link which works without signing in. If you unsubscribe, we keep a suppression record so the automation does not contact you again unless you later opt in through your account. Essential account, security and billing messages are unaffected.
Hosting & third-party processors
To deliver the service we rely on a small number of providers:
- Vercel: hosting and standard server request logs (such as IP address and browser type) to serve pages and keep the service secure.
- Supabase: authentication, database and file storage for accounts, cloud projects and moderated gallery submissions.
- Stripe: payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
- Patreon: verifying your membership if you choose to connect Patreon for Pro.
- Resend: delivering the internal service notifications and any product emails you choose to receive.
- Google: Google Fonts (loading display fonts; your browser requests the files from Google) and, if enabled and consented to, Google Analytics.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK/EEA, so your data may be processed internationally. Where that happens, we rely on the providers’ own safeguards for such transfers (for example standard contractual clauses). These providers act as our processors, except for Stripe and Patreon, which are independent controllers for the payment and Patreon-account data they hold.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:
- Local project data stays on your device until you clear it.
- Account, cloud project and subscription records are kept while your account or subscription is active, and removed when your account is deleted.
- Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and a reasonable period afterwards.
- Analytics events are aggregate and retained for a limited period for trend analysis.
- Marketing preferences and suppression records are kept while needed to respect your choice. Delivery, click and conversion records are kept for campaign measurement and de-duplication.
- Gallery submissions are kept until you remove them, your account is deleted, or we remove them through moderation. Approved content stops being public when it is removed or rejected.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR (and the EU GDPR where it applies) you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data;
- ask us to delete your data (for example by deleting your account);
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable form; and
- withdraw consent for analytics or marketing email at any time, without affecting essential features.
To exercise any of these, email contact@3dprint.land. You can delete most of your data yourself: clear your browser for local designs, manage or cancel Pro from your account, and request account deletion by contacting us. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Children
The tool is a design tool intended for general and adult use (accounts and payments are for adults). It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Signs designed for a child are made by the adult using the tool.
Your files carry no hidden marks
The models you export contain no branding, watermark or hidden mark. What you make is yours (see our Terms of Use).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the tool evolves (for example if we add email updates, new sign-in providers or an order-a-print service). We will change the date above and, where the change is significant, describe it clearly before it applies to you.
