Program and test the tag first
Use an NFC-writing app that suits your phone and tag, then test the programmed action before designing the pocket. Some tags can be locked against later edits, so do not lock one until its contents and behaviour are correct.
Measure the actual tag
Measure the tag鈥檚 diameter or width, height and thickness rather than relying only on its product name. Enter those dimensions and add a small clearance so the tag is not crushed or trapped by normal print variation.
Choose the pocket type
- Rear pocket with flush cover: insert the tag after printing, then glue the separate 0.8 mm cover into place.
- Open rear recess: fix the tag into an accessible recess with thin tape or suitable adhesive.
- Enclosed mid-print pocket: pause the printer, place the tag inside and continue printing over it.
Position it inside the backing
The Horizontal and Vertical sliders follow the usable backing area and the chosen tag size. You can also drag the blue NFC guide in the preview. The guide is for positioning only and is not exported.
Avoid metallic filament and metal parts around the tag because they can reduce NFC range. Test with the intended phone before sealing the pocket.
Treat the pause layer as guidance
For an enclosed pocket, the editor estimates a pause height and layer from the entered layer height. STL and model-only 3MF files cannot force a slicer pause. Confirm the exact roof layer in the slicer preview and add the pause there yourself.
Check thickness and close the pocket
The printability panel compares the pocket depth with the current backing and warns when the plastic skins are too thin. For a covered or open recess, print first and insert the tested tag afterwards. For an enclosed tag, keep it secure during the pause so the nozzle cannot catch it.
